Mark Levine Gig

I will be playing with Mark Levine (piano) and Damien Bard (drums) on January 17, 2006 at the Rivendell Music Academy. The show starts at 7:30 PM. The cost of the show is at your discretion (free or a donation). If you’ve never heard of Mark, I highly advise checking out his music. He has written what is considered by many the book on playing jazz piano: “The Jazz Piano Book.” He’s a nice guy to boot.

Justin Nielsen has been doing the Treasure Valley a great service by putting on these jazz concerts for free (requesting only a donation if you enjoy the show). I say a great service because Mark Levine isn’t the only player that he has brought in for these concerts. I don’t know of anywhere else in the valley that offers this caliber of musicians, in any type of music, on this regular of a basis, for this price. It is an intimate setting where the musicians and audience can connect. Reminds me of playing in clubs out in NYC. Keep your eye on Rivendell’s website for further upcoming events. It looks like things are out of date currently, but I’m sure as they get things rolling this year they will keep things updated. Due to some unfortunate events late last year, out of the academy’s control, they were ousted from their previous location and had to scramble to move to their new location (3415 Flint Drive, Eagle ID).
