Underground History of American Education
Over the past month or so I’ve had an eye opening experience reading a book that the author has so graciously put the full text of online. I have since bought said book because I feel it is an important writing to have laying around my house so that others might get a chance to read it. I hope that I will also refer to it from time to time.
The book is Underground History of American Education. At first it seemed to me a bit on the conspiracy theorist side of life. I’m not one to shrink away from writings that are considered conspiracy theories, so I read on. I began to see that this fellow is not only NOT a conspiracy theorist, but a great thinker and one that has helped me to realize some axioms in my life that I discounted in the past. I discounted them in the past due to my schooling I believe, but I’m finding myself holding on to them now, not only securely, but with gusto.
I have to say as a sidenote, after reading what I have of this book (about half so far) I hate to use the term “conspiracy theorist” at all. It lends itself so well to the realm of shutting out ideas that could be enlightening and help one to grow and learn.
Regardless of how you feel about the US Schooling System (or the term “conspiracy theorist”) this book is one that can give you insight into your own self. I feel like I’m giving a testimonial for a self help book here, but I think more so I am giving a resounding affirmation to a book that I believe could be considered a classic (the definition of a classic being a book that one can read again and again and learn new things from each time).
