I’ve got an upcoming performance with a great pianist who lives two houses down from me, Betsy Brunner. I’m excited about the performance because we’ll be playing one of the suites by Claude Bolling. They are in the third stream type movement, never really went far in popularity but there are some real gems in his writing. It is his Concerto for Classic Guitar and Jazz Piano. It will be Betsy on piano, Louis McFarland on drums and Jim Cassis will be playing vibes in place of guitar. Betsy told me that they have done this before with the vibes and it came off real well.
